The International Conference for Shopping Centers is RECon is the world’s largest global gathering of retail real estate professionals. During a brutal winter, the City of Walla Walla’s Water Division was hit hard. Many community members had not winterized their homes, resulting in many burst residential pipes, frozen water services, and overtime hours. The municipal government of Walla Walla proposed adding a second one-quarter of one percent tax on new home sales to fund investments in sidewalk infrastructure. Brauhn developed the strategy and tactics to educate the community members about the current state of sidewalks, illustrate the need for investment, develop community allies, and facilitate citizen testimony at a state legislature finance committee hearing.
I worked with City Council Members, the City Manager, the City Attorney, and other stakeholders to craft a press release that explained the challenge of homelessness and how the City of Walla Walla would deal with it.
