OWWL smartphone app
OWWL stands for One Walla Walla List. It was an app that provided information about regional social services, all sorted according to need. It earned a California Public Information Officers Award of Distinction.
The local United Way chapter volunteered to update and expand the app. The local newspaper ran an editorial stating the app was a “fantastic idea” that “could be the foundation of something that helps other local governments across the nation.”
Apps live and die by promotion. We have a variety of resources, including brochures, cards, posters, and images that partners can use to share the app. Prior to the eclipse of 2017, we purchased 2,000 eclipse glasses and used them to promote the app.
